Challenge and Challengers

At the Pitch Challenge Istanbul event organized by Geometry Venture and its team, we explained our ActiveWear 2.0 project in 2 minutes and collected scores from the audience.

Such events, where the entrepreneurial spirit is already a challenge, and which enable all entrepreneurs and investors to come together, have a great contribution to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

At the end of our presentation, we were pleased to see that health institutions in Turkey also follow wearable technology and that they especially want to use hardware and software projects. It is hopeful to see that Turkish healthcare organizations will also take part in the wearable technology sector, which is expected to sell 8 billion products in the next 3 years.

Our biggest goal is to build a sustainable future where users do not engage the health sector by following their own health data.

ActiveWear2.0 | PERFORMANCE BASED SMART CLOTHES FOR NON-TRADITIONAL SPORTS

Textile production is one of the least sustainable industries. Textile production produces around 1.2 billion tons of CO2 equivalent per year, more than international flights and shipping combined. It takes 10,000–20,000 liters of water to produce one kilogram of cotton (equivalent to the weight of a shirt and jeans). An average of 60 million garments are produced annually in the clothing industry. With the lack of sustainable fashion, the damage to the world is increasing every year. Moreover, a study by Nielsen showed that 73 percent of millennials are willing to spend more on a product if it comes from a sustainable or socially conscious brand.

Industrial Designer Özgül Dalkılıç, who graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 2003, started the project called ActiveWear 2.0, which is unique in Turkey. She aims to take the 5-year-old TightClub Performance Clothing brand, which she founded, one step further with technology. With its team of textile, electronics and computer engineers and designers, it continues its efforts to design smart activewear integrated into the mobile application.
